The Kite Runner

Once I was about to leave for college in the morning and my dad suddenly walked up to me and said, Baby don’t do anything wrong that would tarnish the reputation of the family. I was shocked. I smiled and shook my head and left for my classes.

Some people have a very friendly relationship with their parents. Mine is not such a case. My parents are not strict on the outside but one thing is sure that they mean what they say. They are sometimes friendly, sometimes very formal. My mother often takes a sarcastic note on my behaviour.

Also, they don’t tell me what to do and what not to do like typical parents do. They expect me to understand the situation and do the right thing on myself.

You can fly as high as you want.

But remember that a flying kite is always bound by its threads.

Your parents, who gave you wings and set you free so that you can achieve the sky

And at the same time they keep you safe from the storm.

Never forget your roots.

Growing up came quickly.

This year my friends and I had planned a night out outside main city. It was the first time I really wanted to go outside city with friends and chill. So, I told my parents that I have to attend an event in college which will extend overnight and I’ll stay in hostel.

They said, yes. I was amused that they believed on my cooked up story. So, when we actually went for the trip, it went well. We had fun and we were safe. Nothing unusual happened except the fact that I was really guilty that my parents trust me so much and I lied to them for such a stupid one day get away with friends.

The cute fact is when I returned home tired, they asked me how the event went and dad worried that I couldn’t sleep well in the hostel. Oh my God. I swear that I felt moment that these guys love me so much and I’m doing all this.

This incident made me realise the importance I have in their lives and they are in mine.

And you’re not supposed to look back.

You’re supposed to be keep going.

So, forget whatever mishaps you did.

Your parents will always hold your kite and never let go of it.

Sometimes you may feel that the thread is broken,

but no there might be some bends,

but the thread can never break.

Family is not a special thing. Family is everything. Family is going to love you no matter how you are, what you do, what you wear, how you speak. Family never judges you.

Make your parents feel your presence. They will forget what you said, what you did but they will never forget how you made them feel.

Money can’t buy happiness, but the moments you spend with them, will.

When someone says they are busy, you should know how it works. One always has a choice and you’re not a priority. Don’t make your parents feel neglected.

Home is a feeling.

Spend time with grandparents to get their wisdom. Spend time with kids to learn to take life less seriously and being happy without any reason.

If your parents had bad day at work, try to give a little extra happiness to them. Be the ocean. Giving away drops won’t change the ocean.
Finally I’d like to share what I learnt from my parents, they are very simple people. They never spend a penny on themselves but ensure that their kids get the best opportunities and never feel less.

Never regret being yourself. Because if you’re truly you then one day people are going to wish they were you.

Yeah, so you already know which people are more important. Once you start staying close to right people, the wrong one will go away. And believe me, whatever you do, your parents will never disown you.

Let’s give 2017 a fresh start. Welcome home. 🙂

Stories that I’ll remind you

I want to be the feeling that stays on your tongue after eating a chocolate which makes you want more.

I want to be the gentle light that enters through your window which wakes you up in the morning.

I want to be the peace you get while you lay down on the bed with hands and legs wide open, looking at the ceiling fan as it gives you breeze, it’s the only sky that you own.

I want to be the dust that stays on your book shelf who knows your secrets more than anyone.

I want to be the coffee stain on your table which reminds you of the sleepless nights you’ve had thinking of someone you barely knew.

I want to be a part. I want to be the very reason which will never let you forget that you’re still a child who wants to cuddle in his mother’s arms, a child who wants to make his parents proud, a child who doesn’t like spinach, a child who’s not afraid.

I know. And I’ll meet you soon while you’re struck in disbelief, I’ll remind you all the stories.

I’ll remind you, I’m still there for you.

One fine night.

Something scratching in the back,

Something got her laughing while sitting up straight on her bed,

May be a familiar story in the old book rack.
The blanket was lying as she left it in the morning,

Twirled like a mermaid taking rest over a rock,

Waiting for the next wave dining.
The spoon just fell over the cup,

Like a huge star, shooting in the infinities of the sky,

While ceramic did talk and made hupp.
She just leaned back on the backside of her bed,

And just like that she held the music in the room,

And she saw the lower corner of the curtain waving to her but she wondered if it was all in her head.

Do you miss your childhood?

Do you miss your childhood?
I miss the way we took pleasure in small things.
Balloons, candies and cookies.
Even as great things crumbled.

We did hide-n-seek,
And peeped through the bushes,
And danced gaily at celebrations.
Or laughed away when the other fell.
Chased away mum for that glass of milk,
And fancy dad’s return for chocolates.

To chitter, chatter.
And be the teacher’s pet.
Party on getting ten on ten.
Or those birthday treats.
Running fast to get the front seat,
Or take hours to finish the last spoon of mum’s best dish.

Neither we could control the world around,
Nor felt the need for it.
There was not a search for happiness.
Or hiding away from crying.

We took the world as it is and smiled.

Could not walk away from things or people or moments that hurt,Yet took joy in the things that made us happy.

If you still miss your childhood,
Remember,
It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.

A traveler’s muse

In city, my heart was spread so thin that I wasn’t feeling much of anything.
But there on the cliffs, I realized I was near the end.
My heart swelled and then hurt.

A traveler.
Another city.
A fresh chapter begins.
A new community ebbs and flows around.

It’s people.
Their dreams. And hopes.
The strains of Mozart’s music swim in the air,
Gliding through countryside’s many cafes,
Glistening shores where children play,
Cobbled streets, merging with the silhouette of the 0ld fort.

Time rolls.

Then the new friend became a speck on horizon,
The traveler felt a familiar sadness.

Not a story of enemies.
Not a story of friends.
Just a story of strangers, with some memories.

You know a time when you seek happiness, truth?

Not because you’re lost.
But you’re closer to where you’re meant to be.
That time, you’ll be, your own sun.
You’ll know that you’re made up of sunlight, thunder and fireworks.

No matter how far you travel, you can never run away from home.

You’ve got — roots of innovation and wings of imagination!
Let them grow.

Are you ready for a fresh start?

“I don’t know where to start.”
“One who chooses the beginning of the road chooses the place it leads to.”

No matter how many losing seasons you might have had in the past,
the good thing is that all teams get a fresh start once summer starts.
Remember your future begins today!

Beginnings could happen more than once or in different ways.
You could think you were starting something afresh, when actually,
what you were doing was carrying on as before. He had faced his shortcomings,
and overcome them and so the real business of walking was happening only now.

I mean there might be a day when you’ll think, Ah! I wish I could have started this much before!
Doesn’t that happen? It does. Always.
So, always drop the thinking, and ACT.

I, along with my friends are working on this project called Startup-Café, well that’s what it is called for now.
We are beginning today with a hope to see more freshers pursuing entrepreneurship every year,
and connecting them with real time entrepreneurial minds as mentors through live portal.

Basically, celebrating ventures from the students of Indian Universities globally!
And our website is coming soon and we are pretty excited about it.
After all, entrepreneurship is all about risking it all, and starting afresh,
where each day is new with no mistakes or worries, just opportunities!

So, have a passion, fight for your dreams and achieve it.
Have a never declining attitude towards life that let’s do it and let’s see what happens.

“You can dance in the storm.
Don’t wait for the rain to be over before because it might take too long.
You can can do it now.  Wherever you are, right now,
you can start, right now; this very moment.”

Let’s talk #1

I attended a conference today on public speaking by Mr. P, I was so motivated by it that I came to a conclusion. Have a read.

What do you want to become? What is your dream? How do you see yourself 5 years down the line?
Big questions. Aren’t these? Yes absolutely!

So let’s talk. Let’s talk about dreams, aspirations, hopes.
These are complicated and yet fascinating questions. But have you really thought about it ever?
What if one doesn’t know what’s his or her dream? Is his life finished?

No. If one doesn’t where to go, you’ll eventually reach the place you want to be. Because things will move in right order themselves. But how? There’s a simple answer. Because you know what not to do. Thus you won’t waste time unnecessarily. All you need is to dream big, continuously thrive for change and creativity in anything and everything you do. Keeping up the passion towards work and life and maintaining balance between the two is important.

Just trust the process.
Once you board the right bus at the right time and sit in  the right seats you’ll end up at the right destination. It’s not when you’ll choose but not choose the wrong ones and be left with the right one.

So don’t choose but reject the wrong ones. Someone is always there to help you, and that’s you yourself. Got it? In this process, one day you’ll end up where you are meant to be.

Soulful Travel

Wanderlust
(n.) An irresistible desire to travel to understand one’s very existence

Why do you travel?
Yes, I travel.
To follow the echo,
Of millions of souls I pass by.

Don’t you travel?
We all do.
To soothe the longing ache,
Of your never ending wanderlust.

Day after day, day after day,
To cross seas and rivers
To see the majestic ocean,
Lying idle on the face of earth,
As if admiring the sky.

We bump each other.
Cross paths,
Heading to the same place,
But taking different routes.

Beautiful memories. Summers. Winters.
Grand feasts, gaily dances.
Weaving together, the tapestry of life.
Painting together, the kaleidoscope of sky.

Creating harmonious symphonies,
We leave our shadows behind.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep.

Summers : The Book Of Hope

Summer is here again. Summer, summer, summer! Who doesn’t love summers?
Summers have a logic of their own and they always brought something out in you. Summer was supposed to be about freedom, fun, adventure and leisure.  What’s good about summer is it’s warmth , but one can never realize it without the cold of the winter. If we never had winters, summers would just be  an illusion like the moon lady’s love. Or when you are too tired to carry on, summer’s sunshine bring life to earth. Sun is the best thing to happen to earth I must say.

Hafiz said,
“Even
After
All this time
The Sun never says to the Earth,

“You owe me.”

Look
What happens
With a love like that,
It lights the whole sky.”

One always remembers one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.

“Green was the silence, wet was the light,
the month of June trembled like a butterfly.”
Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

So summers is a book of hope. Each day we had more light to read by. Summers makes one want to believe.  But hope is dangerous thing my friends, it can drive one crazy. But faith is sweet, as sweet as the first summer rain.

And so with the sunshine and the blue sky, and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees,  butterflies and chirping birdies, and the breeze, I believe life was beginning over and over again with the summer.

Which one’s your door?

Here’s a story to take you to two doors, you can only choose one and only choose once. Choose wisely.

In a mother’s womb were two babies.
One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?”
The other replies, “why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.

“Nonsense,” says the other. “There is no life after delivery. What would that life be?” “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths.”

The other says, “This is absurd! Walking is impossible. And eat with our mouths? Ridiculous. The umbilical cord supplies nutrition. Life after delivery is to be excluded. The umbilical cord is too short.”
“I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here.” the other replies, “No one has ever come back from there. Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery it is nothing but darkness and anxiety and it takes us nowhere.”

“Well, I don’t know,” says the other, “but certainly we will see mother and she will take care of us.”

“Mother??” You believe in mother? Where is she now? “She is all around us. It is in her that we live. Without her there would not be this world.”
“I don’t see her, so it’s only logical that she doesn’t exist.”
To which the other replied, “sometimes when you’re in silence you can hear her, you can perceive her.”I believe there is a reality after delivery and we are here to prepare ourselves for that reality.

via Ben at DOP – The Door Of Perception

This is a great analogy if those who don’t believe in the afterlife are complete fools and know so very little about what really exists outside this reality of ours.
Every breath you take, is proof of creator.
Every flower, animal and tree, is creator born.
You would not be alive without the creator’s breath of life.

And I don’t believe in life after death. Only because I don’t believe in death. I believe life is eternal and the only thing that dies is your physical form. We are only visitors in this realm.

“You do not have a soul.  You are a soul.  You have a body.” – George MacDonald

It’s all about faith. What you believe in, whether in science or religion, faith is all what matters. Found your door?
Share and help others to find theirs.
