Do you feel nostalgic sometime?

*Do you feel nostalgic sometime?*

There are two kinds of nostalgia.

One feels like it happened just yesterday,

The other feels like it happened ages ago.

And you miss them both.

One is a silent whisper, the other is a loud cry.

One gently pats your back, while you drive along your old school.

The other hits you hard, while you notice dust on photo frames hanging on walls of your living room.

You give up on one. You hold on to other.

Life is nothing but a honeycomb of old stories, some taste as sweet as nectar while others sting bad as bees.

And you visit them often and miss them both.

And you love them both.

Is there more to life than just being happy

They say all what matters in life is happiness. You need not worry too much about the future and live in the present and be happy instead.

Happy Happy Happy. It is easy to say than to be in reality. So what is happiness?

The oxford dictionary says Happiness is the feeling you have when things give you pleasure and can be quite a lively feeling; contentment is a quieter feeling that you get when you have learned to find pleasure in things.

In philosophy, happiness is translated from the Greek concept of eudaimonia, and refers to the good life, or flourishing, as opposed to an emotion.

In psychology, happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being which can be defined by, among others, positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happy mental states may reflect judgements by a person about their overall well-being.

Wikipedia says, since the 1960s, happiness research has been conducted in a wide variety of scientific disciplines, including gerontology, social psychology, clinical and medical research and happiness economics.

I didn’t know that happiness was a matter of research in itself which is being studied for ages.

Now, it means, each day every human is striving towards a happier life. This actually creates a scenario where the person is not content with the present life and hoping for a better future and telling himself that “I am fine, I am okay, I am happy.”

Life is not just about being happy. Life is about learning, about being agile. World is changing everyday and one needs to adapt to it. And not being concerned about being happy, and not thinking too much but being focused towards goals and responsibilities is what life is about.

Say I love cooking. I have a family of 4. I have a job. I cook everyday for my husband, my kids and me. And I feel it like a job. What if I start enjoying it and start preparing meals with more happiness. But does it matter, will the food taste better if I cook it being happy or I cook being normal like I am doing my job. That’s a mystery to me.

If you’ll look for happiness, you’ll end being sadder instead. Because now you’ll focus on things which make you happy and if you don’t get that thing or fail at it, you’ll be sad. So why not just focus on life than looking forward being happy everyday.

I understand, it is very challenging. Everybody is looking for a better tomorrow. I think the best way is not to push yourself hard and not link your happiness with things or people. You have one life. I think laughter is the best solution. You may not be happy, you had a bad day, but you can always read a comic book or watch a comedy movie and feel good. Yes, feeling good should be the goal is life than being just happy.

I asked mom, “Are you happy?” She went into a deep thought and said she’s fine, she’s okay, she’s happy. And that one question I asked her triggered gloom and her entire life flash backed in front of her, where she compared reality with her hopes and dreams. And she must have felt a little less. This is the same question we ask ourselves everyday and end up being trapped in emotional stress of not accomplishing dreams.

It’s the want of happiness, which causes pain. The desire which never ends. God created happiness I think to create sadness. The trick is to feel good instead.

A couple of days later I asked my mom, “Are you good?” She said oh yes I am. And yes is good actually. So goodness is the key. Not thinking much, and focusing on whatever is going on, whatever is best for the body, mind and soul.

We are all good and will be good everyday.

Have a good day.

Why you don’t have to be sad anymore

I messaged one of my best friends on WhatsApp, Hey! Good morning… How are you.. And then she says she’s fine but couldn’t sleep well last night because of an urgent project delivery. Then I speak about how I woke up late, missed gym and skipped breakfast. We rant about how boring, hectic, and difficult our lives are.

Then our conversation takes a positive turn when we hope that everything will be alright, let’s just work hard and meet someday on weekend. And said goodbye.

But deep inside we both are really sad. We are waiting for something extraordinary happen to our lives.

Why are we sad, there’s no specific reason.. Just a perpetual gloom.

I realise, it’s just our attitude which makes us feel so. It’s our mind which is over thinking, nothing else. Our life is one of the most fortunate ones.

My mind doesn’t agree yet. Let me list down the positives and negatives.

  1. We have a family which cares for us every single day.
  2. We have a mother who gets up before us every day, prepares food and leaves for work.
  3. We have a father who is often working off station but never misses a day when he asks if we reached home safe.
  4. We have our grandparents who love us unconditionally.
  5. We have loving siblings, cousins, and friends who make our life worth living.
  6. We have good health, sound body.
  7. We have been well educated
  8. We have a stable job.
  9. We live in a good city, with all facilities.
  10. We are just 22. We are young and yet to discover many opportunities waiting for us.
  11. We have time, energy and freedom.

You might also have a special someone who cares a little extra for you 😛 If you don’t, you’ll find one day.

Ah, I think, I could go on and on. I’ve been such a fool. I’ve got everything.

Now, I was in metro train, going to office in the morning. I saw a woman, in late 20s. She had only two fingers in her each hand and feet. And still she was happy. It seemed like she was going to office too. And this gave me all courage to write this article and remember this day forever.

It is true. Our generation is blessed with all conveniences. Our parents and grandparents worked through hardships back then. To us, everything is available so easily.

All we need to do is focus and be determined for our goal.

Now I promise, everyday I will thank God for this beautiful life and my family. You should too.

Don’t be sad unnecessarily. Be happy. Be normal. Be motivated. Life will come to you on its own.

    I will share following mantra:

    • Don’t think about negatives, only positives
    • Be thankful for everything
    • Utilise your time, never stop learning
    • Value people in your life, you don’t know when one leaves
    • Trust God, trust yourself
    • Have patience and work for the best

Your life is already good. You are alive. You are blessed. Have a great day sunshine!

    Stairs to the moon

When you help them build stairs to the moon,
And you think you all are going together and reach up soon.
But you forget one important thing,
The wooden staircase could take only one person at a time.

So they climb up, leaving you behind.

You thought we’ll all stand together, once we reach.
But a lesson did they teach?

But momma said always help people, be kind and generous,
Don’t say I, but worry about the  ‘Us’.
But momma didn’t know that people no longer care,
They get what what they want, and do not do fair.
They forget your help or the days they needed you,
The one who made the stairs and was left behind by you.

I laugh in despair, that momma when they had reached up,
At least they didn’t break the stairs,
I should have believed they never cared.

But momma you never told me that I had to be little selfish,
All I did was share and share until things got finished.

I should have kept some things for myself in this world,
Days after days things got more swirled.
I got infuriated by all this muddle,
I was left alone, with no one to cuddle.

    I cried, I shouted, I screamed.
For God, what bad have I done,
that I could not get to my dream.

I vowed to not help people anymore,
Not be kind or generous, or helping a sore.
I saw the world through a broken glass,
I was drawing myself away from the mean class.

But deep in my heart, I believed,
That the one who’s the strongest, and kindest,
Then success, happiness all you achieve!
I knew how to build those stairs, so I did it again,
I learnt from experience, I grew from that pain.

I reached even higher than they can imagine ever,
And they were back in news telling me clever.
Oh fools, I thought, what have you done,
You never knew there’s a difference between a planet and the sun!

But one thing all we must learn from now,
Look for real people, because it’s a fake town.
Share only with those who’re worthy of that gift,
The people, who are there and never split.

And you need to give yourself, is your help first,
So that you climb up the moon, with the stairs you trust.

    Be kind, sincere and fearless,
Because you’re special, and you’re no less!

Hey guys, I’ve written this poem on my personal experience, it’s straight from the heart, and it’s my present story, if you liked it,share and help spread the word, thanks!

    Do you miss your childhood?

    Do you miss your childhood?
I miss the way we took pleasure in small things.
    Balloons, candies and cookies.
    Even as great things crumbled.

    We did hide-n-seek,
    And peeped through the bushes,
    And danced gaily at celebrations.
Or laughed away when the other fell.
Chased away mum for that glass of milk,
And fancy dad’s return for chocolates.

    To chitter, chatter.
    And be the teacher’s pet.
Party on getting ten on ten.
    Or those birthday treats.
Running fast to get the front seat,
Or take hours to finish the last spoon of mum’s best dish.

Neither we could control the world around,
Nor felt the need for it.
There was not a search for happiness.
    Or hiding away from crying.

We took the world as it is and smiled.

Could not walk away from things or people or moments that hurt,Yet took joy in the things that made us happy.

If you still miss your childhood,
    Remember,
It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.

    Let’s talk #1

I attended a conference today on public speaking by Mr. P, I was so motivated by it that I came to a conclusion. Have a read.

What do you want to become? What is your dream? How do you see yourself 5 years down the line?
Big questions. Aren’t these? Yes absolutely!

So let’s talk. Let’s talk about dreams, aspirations, hopes.
These are complicated and yet fascinating questions. But have you really thought about it ever?
What if one doesn’t know what’s his or her dream? Is his life finished?

No. If one doesn’t where to go, you’ll eventually reach the place you want to be. Because things will move in right order themselves. But how? There’s a simple answer. Because you know what not to do. Thus you won’t waste time unnecessarily. All you need is to dream big, continuously thrive for change and creativity in anything and everything you do. Keeping up the passion towards work and life and maintaining balance between the two is important.

    Just trust the process.
Once you board the right bus at the right time and sit in  the right seats you’ll end up at the right destination. It’s not when you’ll choose but not choose the wrong ones and be left with the right one.

So don’t choose but reject the wrong ones. Someone is always there to help you, and that’s you yourself. Got it? In this process, one day you’ll end up where you are meant to be.

    The Happy Ever After

If happy ever after did exist, I would still be holding you like this. ~ Payphone, Maroon5

    The happy ever after.
After you go far away from it though, can you really get it back?

Knowing and remembering, the magic. Just briefly though.
And you know that you have met before.

When a song stirs emotions, and memories.
When pages from a book, leave a peculiar scent.
When you listen to the bus passing by, and wonder, where it might be going.
A home. The happy ever after. To find the right one.

If you have the words, you’ll have a way.

Everyone sings an incomplete song, until someone comes, and whispers the missing notes.

    To complete your melody.
To find the poet in you.

After all everyone lives as a poet on the face of this earth.

If not as a poet, then as a poem.
May be fairy-tales do not exist. But it’s worth fighting for.

And it’s never too late to have a happy ever-after.

    Soulful Travel

    Wanderlust
(n.) An irresistible desire to travel to understand one’s very existence

    Why do you travel?
    Yes, I travel.
    To follow the echo,
Of millions of souls I pass by.

    Don’t you travel?
    We all do.
    To soothe the longing ache,
    Of your never ending wanderlust.

Day after day, day after day,
    To cross seas and rivers
    To see the majestic ocean,
Lying idle on the face of earth,
    As if admiring the sky.

    We bump each other.
    Cross paths,
    Heading to the same place,
    But taking different routes.

    Beautiful memories. Summers. Winters.
    Grand feasts, gaily dances.
Weaving together, the tapestry of life.
Painting together, the kaleidoscope of sky.

    Creating harmonious symphonies,
    We leave our shadows behind.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep.

    The Right One

    KOI NO YOKAN
(n.) The sense upon first meeting a person that two of you are going to fall in love

    Does that happen?
    Yes, it does, she said.

    Sometimes when you meet someone,
like a wind passing by, and the scent it left.
Like someone played an old song,
reminding you of the old times,
    Or someone brewed coffee,
Or turned pages from an old book.
Like a trace of someone’s perfume,
which brings pain in the knees.
    But you won’t tell.

    LA DOULEUR EXQUISE
(n.) the heart wrenching pain of wanting affection of someone unattainable

Is that pain real?, he said.
    Real. she replied.

    i t h i n k i m a d e y o u u p a n d n o w y o u a r e g o n e

Yes.You might have a homesickness for a home, to which you cannot return back,
Or you have never been to. People, places and memories! Those you miss, don’t exist anymore.
For the irony of pain is that, you let the same person you love, hurt you over and over again.
And the beauty of the situation is that, you want to be comforted by the same person who hurt you.

    Having perfected our disguise,
we search for a person we can’t fool.

Someone who loves you for what you are,
    not what you look.

May the fairy tales be true.
    Let their be magic!

When you want to come out,
of the shell, like a seed.

When you are back as a child,
    with the one who completes,

    as the missing piece,
from the puzzle of your life.

    Or whispers the missing notes,
    to your incomplete song.

    Because, may be,
you have to love the wrong person,
    once or twice,
to be thankful for the right one.
